End-Grain Cutting Board

My first woodworking project

What is an End-Grain Cutting Board?

Most cutting boards are face-grain boards, and it's easy to see why by looking at the picture on the right. They're the easiest—by far—to make. However, they also scratch far more than end-grain boards. End-grain boards also keep blades sharper for longer, and last longer, which is why they cost more. An end-grain board like mine can cost between $150-$200.

Applying Finish!

Finishing & Upkeep

I finished my board with mineral oil, a food safe finish that brings out the natural beauty of the wood. Mineral oil is a maintenance finish, which means that it needs to be reapplied every month or so, but I like this because it makes the board feel brand new again.
